Vaccinations help animals fight disease before it takes hold, and keep pet populations as a whole safe from infection.
Which Vaccines Does My Pet Need?
Pet vaccinations are divided into two categories: core and non-core.
- Core vaccinations are recommended for every pet because they protect against a range of highly contagious diseases that could otherwise be fatal.
Kittens/Cats core vaccinations include:
- FVRCP - Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia
- Rabies virus
Puppies/Dogs core vaccinations include:
- Distemper Combo - Canine distemper, infectious hepatitis, parvovirus
- Rabies virus
- Non-core vaccinations are based on their risk of contracting certain diseases.
Kittens/Cats Non-core vaccinations include:
- Feline leukemia virus
Puppies/Dogs Non-core vaccinations include:
- Bordetella/Parainfluenza virus {(highly contagious and highly recommended) Most day cares, boarding and grooming facilities require dogs to have this vaccine.}
How early should my pet be vaccinated?
We recommend kittens and puppies to start getting vaccinated around 8-weeks old.
