Our surgery service policies:

  • Every pet is given a full physical examination before anesthesia. Our veterinarians reserve the right to cancel or postpone your pet’s surgery if they are deemed “not healthy”.
  • Every animal will receive a microchip at no charge at time of surgery - many animals that end up in shelters have no identification. We want to make sure your pet gets back to you if they are ever lost!
  • Payment is due in full in the morning at the time of drop off.

Post op FAQ’s:

  • My pet is coughing a bit after surgery, is that normal?

Yes, slight irritation from the endotracheal tube may cause a mild, dry cough. Please notify us if your pet is coughing. If there are any breathing abnormalities or your pet appears to be in distress, please call us or your closest emergency vet hospital immediately.

  • There is some swelling around the surgery site, is this normal?

Swelling around the incision can be normal. If you have any questions or concerns, please call or email a photo, we are here to help.

  • My pet has diarrhea after the surgery?

This can happen as a result of the anesthetic medications we use throughout the surgical procedure. If it does not resolve within 24 hours or if your pet seems lethargic, or not eating or drinking please don’t delay, and call us. We are here to help.

  • My dog seems fully healed and wants to go play, can I take them to the off-leash dog park?

Your dog may try to convince you that they are ready to run and play again just a few days after their surgery, but it is important for them to wait at least 10-14 days for the incision area to heal properly. This means no dog parks, and restricted activity for the first 10-14 days after surgery.
